Fifteen years ago yesterday, an event happened in my life that changed everything. I had a car accident and suffered an incomplete spinal cord injury. It taught me a few things.
- You never know what life has in store for you and in a second everything can change.
- No matter how many plans you have, what’s going to happen is going to happen. You need to be prepared and work towards something but be flexible.
- No matter how bad things get, it is not the end of the world. Things will get better. Good things are coming your way.
- The most important thing in life is having a positive attitude and try to see the good in everything. It may sound corny but it is the truth.
I could have very well lay in bed all day and feel sorry for myself and get a check from the government to pay my bills. It may tire me out to walk too much and everything hurts in the morning but that is not going to stop me from doing what I want to do.
And, you have been such a warrior! I remember when I first met you, you had a hard time breathing and had to use a walker, yet you took me around to meet new people in Paducah! You forged ahead and have become so much stronger! And, that spark of yours is contagious! Kudos to you, chiquita! I only hope that I have as much courage when my time comes….
